Nana Adeishvili

Dr. Nana Adeishvili is a specialist in private sector development with an emphasis on enterprise restructuring, competitiveness and sector analyses in transitional and less developed economies, with significant experience as a corporate executive. During the past five years as an expert of Anteja ECG, the US-Slovenian consulting company, she has expanded her focus to include collaborative regional economic development strategies and policies to promote sustainable business growth, setting the policy context to create new business opportunities, multi-stakeholder engagement, and bringing people together in a productive way.

For more than 10 years she is an established consultant for the World Bank and other international organizations (EU, UNDP, DFID) in the field of private sector analysis, project and implementation design, development of regional competitiveness strategies and business climate analysis. Assignments have included work in Turkey, Ethiopia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Macedonia.

She served as CEO of Georgia’s incumbent telephone carrier, United Telecom of Georgia, where she completed a successful restructuring and prepared the company for privatization, increasing its value by 150% in 18 months.

From 1997 to 2004, as the Executive Director of the Centre for Enterprise Restructuring and Management (CERMA), she managed the US$ 17 million Enterprise Rehabilitation Project where the successful turnaround and business development of more than 100 companies were achieved, the training programs in business education for company executives were developed and delivered to 400 managers. She also steered CERMA through the ISO 9000-2001 certification process to successfully attain this certification in project management by British Standards Institution.

Dr. Adeishvili served on the Executive Board of The Competitiveness Institute (TCI), an international professional organization based in Barcelona, from 2003 to 2005, focusing on cluster development and innovation systems in regional economic development, in which capacity she has reviewed cluster development programs in Scotland, Slovenia, Northern Italy, Australia, Sweden, California and Arizona. She has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics at Tbilisi State University for nine years, and is currently lecturing the course on Competitiveness at the Caucasus School of Business, Tbilisi. She holds PMBA from IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia, MIA from Columbia University, US, and PhD in Economics from Moscow State University, Russia.
