Within Allianz (1st World Insurance Group) Enrico Cucchiani is responsible for the companies in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Latin America, France, Benelux and Africa; in addition, he is also responsible for the strategic restructuring, on a worldwide basis, of the Property & Casualty (the most important Allianz business) and of “Direct” distribution. He is Chairman of Allianz S.p.A. (Italy) and chairs or serves on the boards of several Allianz companies as well as of Unicredit, Pirelli and Illy Group. In addition, he chairs MIB School of Management in Trieste, is a lifetime director of the Javotte Bocconi Institute - the Bocconi University Foundation, member of the Bocconi’s International Advisory Council as well as of the Advisory Council of Stanford University. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Council for the United States and Italy, the Trilateral Commission, ISPI (Institute for International Political Studies) and the Aspen Institute Italy. He chairs the Italian-German Forum. Prior to joining Allianz, Enrico Cucchiani had set up a private equity company, had been CEO of a global luxury company, and had worked with McKinsey in Italy, London and New York and for a major US bank. He is Cavaliere del Lavoro (highest honorary title awarded by the President of Italy) and the recipient of the 2006 Businessman of the Year award from Bocconi University. Mr. Cucchiani holds a doctorate degree with highest honors in economics from Bocconi University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was a Fulbright Fellow; he has also carried out research work at the Harvard Business School.
